Good Works Legal Solutions

WHY WE EXIST

Nonprofit leaders deserve more than fragmented guidance.

Information is everywhere. What is often missing is context: what applies to this organization, why it matters, what risks or responsibilities are involved, and what should happen next.

Generic information

Articles, search results, and conflicting guidance may explain a topic without helping leaders understand what applies to their organization or current challenge.

Best-practices without context

Well-intentioned recommendations can sound useful while overlooking legal duties, organizational capacity, authority, or the realities shaping a decision.

Legal help that arrives too late

Many organizations seek legal support only after conflict, confusion, risk, or governance breakdown has already escalated.

Good Works Legal Solutions fills the gap with practical, legally informed guidance designed to help leaders recognize problems earlier, understand what matters, and move from information to sound governance practice.

OUR APPROACH

We connect legal knowledge to the realities of nonprofit leadership.

Our approach brings together:

Nonprofit legal knowledge

Understand the legal duties, responsibilities, and standards shaping the issue.

Governance analysis

Identify the roles, structures, decision patterns, and systems underneath the visible problem.

Practical tools and resources

Create templates, checklists, and assessments that translate knowledge into action.

Implementation guidance

Support to put plans into practice and build sustainable governance habits.

Advisory support

Thoughtful guidance for complex situations and high-stakes decisions.

OUR CENTRAL BELIEF

Governance is stewardship.

Governance is how nonprofit leaders care for the mission, people, resources, authority, and trust that have been placed in their hands.

It shapes how decisions are made, how responsibility is shared, how people experience leadership, and whether the organization can carry its mission forward through growth, change, and challenge.

Make clearer, more responsible decisions.

Protect people and organizational resources.

Create stronger authority and accountability.

Build systems capable of sustaining the mission.

MEET OUR FOUNDER

Nancy Durand, Esq.

Nancy is a nonprofit attorney, governance advisor, and nonprofit leader with more than 20 years of legal experience.

She advises nonprofit boards and executives on governance, fiduciary duties, employment matters, internal investigations, risk management, and difficult questions about authority and accountability.

Her perspective is shaped by experience on both sides of the table. Nancy has served on and chaired nonprofit boards, founded nonprofit organizations, and worked alongside leaders responsible for making difficult decisions with limited resources and real consequences.

That experience taught her that nonprofit leaders do not need more information for information’s sake. They need to understand what the law requires, what good governance calls for, and what it means for the decision in front of them.

That is the perspective behind Good Works Legal Solutions: practical legal and governance education designed to help nonprofit leaders make better legally informed decisions before problems become crises.
